Treat Water-Based Inks

Water based inks are the most commonly used inks in flexographic printing.  When performing routine cleaning after every job or after every shift, you will have created ink contaminated wastewater from your cleaning process.

In general,  the wastewater from flexographic printer cleaning is not suitable for direct discharge to drain.  It must be treated to meet local sewer discharge legislation.

Water based flexographic printing ink is typically composed of water as the main solvent, pigments for color,  acrylic or resin binders, and other additives.  This inks are common when printing corrugated boxes, paper bags, tissue paper, paper cups and much more.

Daily or end of job cleaning routines from ink trays/chambers, anilox rolls, doctor blades, plates, ink pumps & hoses produce ink contaminated wastewater that is not suitable for discharge to drain.  In most cases, Moonstone’s technology can treat water from water based ink cleaning processes to achieve discharge compliance.

Our reactive separating agent can be custom blended to help you meet your discharge requirement.  Moonstone equipment make the treatment process simple, reliable and efficient, by applying the correct amount of RSA to the treatment process lowering your operational costs.  Moonstone can custom configure a system to fit your facility where floor space is limited.

Moonstone has batch treatment systems that can treat your water from manual processes, or if you have automatic/semi-automatic cleaning for your flexographic printing machine, a continuous flow system may be more suitable.
